If I were to use one word to describe my experience with the Reform Symposium – RSCON3 (so far, there are still a couple of sessions left), it would be Inspirational!
The presentations/keynotes/panel discussions which I was able to attend were absolutely amazing! I only wish I could have attended more. One of the best things about RSCON3 is that all the sessions will be archived so that I can go back to re-listen to sessions I attended, or listen to sessions I missed. So excited about that!
There were so many new people I was introduced to this weekend! I can not wait to stalk follow them on Twitter! I was also introduced to great blogs, websites, wikis, webinars, and the list goes on.
Here are some words I would use to describe the presenters at the RSCON3:
– personable
– helpful
– generous
– innovative
– informative
– inspiring
– caring
– thoughtful
– thorough
– passionate
– authentic
– gracious
– empowering
– flexible
– collaborative
– humble
– kind
– energizing
I’ve been introduced to so many things this weekend, including amazing educators and outstanding ideas.
Now, I am questioning everything: everything I was planning with my new assignment and how I am going to meet the needs of the students in the areas I will be teaching: Health and Career Education and Physical Education.
I am thinking of all the risks I want need to take during the upcoming year. Being a Vice-Principal, I am to be a leader in education, and that means taking risks in my own learning. Hopefully, if people see me taking risks in my learning, they will do the same. Leading by example is so important!
I am also aware though, that being new to a school, as a Vice-Principal, people will be looking at me differently. Unfortunately, administrators are judged with a bit of a harsher light much of the time. I must have the courage to take these risks, not care about being judged, but use it as an opportunity to grow as an educator myself. Hopefully, as a result, I will inspire others to grow and change, and develop as educators in the 21st Century.
I will be blogging more about the various workshops I attended at RSCON3 in the coming days. Stay tuned.
My mind is still spinning! I’m so glad I was able to take part in it and I too am eagerly waiting for the seminars to be put on line to listen (or re listen) to again. All I can say is WOW!
It was great having us both at sessions and be excited about this opportunity. I think it makes it even more meaningful to be able to chat about it with someone I know, trust, and respect.
I am still in awe!
Three little friends were here =)
