Things to Celebrate

As the end of Spring Break is upon us, I came across a recent post by a Vancouver Teacher, Carrie Gelson. In it, she wrote about some of the things she has to celebrate at the completion of Spring Break.  It is so important to acknowledge and celebrate things, no matter how small.  The last term is always a busy one, so let’s take a moment to think of some wonderful Spring Break memories before they are quickly a thing of the past.

Things for which I am grateful for as Spring Break comes to an end ….

Reading. I have been able to also go old school and read a few books over the break. So nice to be able to sit back and read.

Catch up. I had some time to catch up on some work that had got past me recently. It is always nice to have the luxury to have this catch up time. I even had some time to catch up on some little projects I wanted to finish around my house – like putting photos in frames!

Sold! Our family home was sold!  This has been a long process and I am so glad that the sale closed and soon we will be able to start our new life …

Social Media. It has been so nice to be online more and connecting with those who have inspired me over the past few years. I have enjoyed reading some wonderful blogs on Twitter, through Zite, Flipboard, and through Feedly.  I have also really enjoyed listening to some Podcasts. I think I have a new favourite – PrincipalCast Podcast (You can learn about more podcasts I like to listen to here). I have also been able to do a bit of blogging over the break. This is something that I have missed doing lately because I have just been too busy to blog, unfortunately.

Sleep.  I must say, I do love sleep. It has been lovely to sleep in and have the odd nap as well. So nice!

Family. We were fortunate to get together with many family members over the break. It is always nice to get together with our family. I am so very grateful for a wonderful family members.

Kids. It was lovely to spend additional time with my kids, as always. I am so fortunate to have such wonderful kids who provide me with so much love and inspiration. They make me laugh every day.

Connecting. I was able to connect with some friends and inspiring colleagues over Spring Break.  This made for some late nights and lots of laughter! It was so nice to share and laugh and listen and laugh. It was so nice to be inspired! These friends and colleagues always inspire me to be a better person, teacher, and leader.  They give me energy and make me remember how much I love connecting with others! Thank you!

What are you grateful about these days?

I’d love to read a blog post of all the things for which you are grateful!

There are many things that define who I am as a person. First of all, I am a mother of 3 wonderful children! I can not express how fortunate we are to have our children in our life! Secondly, I am an elementary educator who recently returned to the classroom after 12+ years as an elementary school administrator. Lastly, I am passionate about helping others, learning about abuse, helping others in abusive relationships, and helping others understand their worth.

  1. So wonderful to read all of your celebrations Tia. Congratulations on the sale of your home! Wishing you lots of luck in your next steps! Isn’t it wonderful to have down time with our families? I so enjoy the small moments and being around my children a LOT!

    1. Thank, Carrie! It’s always nice to sit and just think of and be grateful for the wonderful things that happen on a daily basis that we can sometimes take for granted. Down time is great. I also love time with my kids. They are such a joy to be around. It is nice, though, to have time with friends and quiet time alone as well. 🙂

Thanks for taking time to comment!
