Hi! My name is Tia Dawson. I am an elementary school teacher.
I began my teaching career in 1995 when I graduated university with a Bachelor’s Degree. In the year 2000, I started my Master’s Degree in Education specializing in Diagnostic Instruction and Remediation (completing this degree in 2002). After teaching for approximately 10 years, I was hired as an elementary school vice-principal just after my first child was born in 2005. Since then, I have worked in three diverse elementary schools as the vice-principal. I have also worked in two elementary schools as principal. In addition, I have had the pleasure of adding two more children to our family.
Recently, I decided to leave administration and return to the classroom, in an effort to find joy in education again and to have more time for my own children.
I love the difference I can make at the schools in which I work. It is amazing to see the growth of the students, their parents, the teachers and the support staff. It has been a great experience witnessing my own growth as well. I truly believe in being a life-long learner. I’m always looking for something new to learn about or try (like this blog). Without learning, life would not be as nearly as rewarding or invigorating as it is now.
This blog will be used to reflect upon my own practise – as an elementary school administrator, a teacher, a mother, and an amateur photographer. It will be to comment on articles or books I read, sites I visit on the internet, blogs I read, events that take place at home and at my work. This blog will be used as a learning tool for me, so I can reflect upon, make real meaning of, and then learn from each experience.
I would also love to share some of my other passions: my family and my photography.
Here is a collage of my three children from 2011.
Here’s a photo of the four of us in 2018:
I am writing a book on relationships and one of the chapter is learning about how to recreate with our dates. Is it possible for me you use (or pay for) the following image that I saw on your website? I don’t expect many copies to sell as I am writing the book for my 10 grandchildren. Please advise. Here is entitled “Play, learn and grow together”…
Do you know how I can reach the person who drew this image to get their permission to use it?
Just thought I’d let you know I nominated you fore the One Lovely Blog Award that will be published tomorrow. Here’s the link if you want to participate.http://couragetoadventurecoaching.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/one-lovely-blog-award/
